Our Family is Growing

It's been a few weeks since my last post, but I've actually been working on the house. Honest I have! I've actually been tackling some large clean-up jobs making room for a new member of the family which we hope to have join us this weekend. So much to do - moving boxes downstairs, and getting rid of stuff we don't need in the process. It's a huge undertaking since we never fully unpacked all the boxes since we moved in. Baby needs a place to sleep, afterall. Can't quite bring myself to leave her out in the cold rain! We're going to need a lot of room, because Baby is pretty good size. Almost 18' long and around 3,800 pounds.

What the hell is baby, your new trailer-home? I told you not to buy one.

Naah, the trailer park turned down our application to join. 350 cubic inches of Rocket Power, vintage 1972. It'll be good for the car to have it see the road more than 20 miles per year.

That Vista Cruiser sold for $25k. Maybe we need to do a frame-off on baby and eBay it.

After the house is done it'll get a good refreshing, but I think a frame-off might be extreme. I've still got the replacement doors from Texas which will be used. Rear fender skins will be cut out and replaced along with the rusty wheel tubs, new front fenders (depending on how much rot is hidden on them now - patch panels may be all that's needed), a new trunk lid, along with a new hood with the twin scoops. Panels like the trunk lid look ok right now, but the cost difference between fixing them up and patching old work compared to just buying a replacement panel should be minimal. The old panels are good enough to be able to sell on e-bay to help even the costs a little more. Inside it really only needs the seats recovered and a little detail work on the rest of the white surfaces to brighten them up. It's amazing how many parts are available for it.
