If all goes as planned, I should have a new roof installed about a week, including the tear-off of two layers of existing shingles. Based on my public high school math calculations, I'll need 20 square, or 60 bundles of 3-tab for a 2,000 square foot roof (size is rounded up and includes some extra material to be safe, plus it accounts for the pitch of the roof). Including the roofing felt, starter strip, and ice & water shield I'm expecting to spend around $1,300-1,500 on materials. I found that the local Menard's will also accept the "10% off on up to $500" peel-off coupons I have for Home Depot. Suck it, HD, I'm not buying from you unless I have to! The coupons are only good for orders up to $500, but the guy I am working with at Menard's will do multiple $500 receipts for me allowing me to save more. Those savings will pay for the delivery charge (I'm having the shingles delivered directly to the roof) and the building permit. Yeah, I actually have to pay $50.00 to the city for the privilege of re-roofing my house. The following picture sucks, but the Owens Corning Skyview 25 Year shingles in Sienna look to be a good color match for our house. From a short distance, they look very much like the more expensive shingles. Having a new roof on the place will really be a load off of my shoulders, and should help boost the value of the house at the same time.

Good luck!! And be very glad that your roof isn't too big. Altogether it took us about 3 weeks to do our roof, but we had to remove all of the plywood on one side, and the roof was about 100 squares.
Are they actually going to put the shingles up on the roof for you? That would have been amazing, and we would have paid a big fee to have saved ourselves the work!
Hope it goes quickly, smoothly and without rain :)

I wish I had a house big enough for 100 squares! :)
Yes, Menard's is going to deliver AND load the shingles on the roof. It costs $50 for the delivery and an extra $.75 per bundle to take them to the roof. Basically, it's an extra $45.00 to get them on the roof for me. 20 squares should weigh about 4,500 pounds, so I'm paying $1.00 per hundred pounds - well worth it! Shingles start out heavy and it only gets worse as the day goes on.
Oh, and the date has been pushed back a week due to scheduling conflicts with the guys doing the work. Oh well, no big deal.
The roof renovation on my home was really a fine sight to behold, due to how the work was done, especially the instance the contractors used the roof anchors fall protection system to protect themselves from falling while keeping up the speed of their work.
Are the skyview shingles actually "3 tab"?

Did the plan for a roof installation push through? Usually, most shingles deteriorate easily because of the exposure to different weather conditions. Since that is the case, maintenance is also a factor to consider and you need to have these shingles checked from time to time. How's your home now, BTW?

It’s been six years now. How’s your roof? I do hope you’re having it maintained properly. Roof repairs are quite frustrating for it can be expensive. Maintenance is far more beneficial than replacement or repair.
